Interested in serving? IYANW looks for board members with a wide range of yoga experience and diverse backgrounds. Although some board positions require experience in a specific area (maintaining a website, design and layout skills, bookkeeping experience, editing skills, database management, etc.), many positions require no specific experience at all. You can learn on the job! Individual board positions are decided after the election, pairing members to positions that best suit their talents and skills.
Board members serve a 4-year term. Meetings are held three times per year, usually the first weekend of February, June and October. Most meetings are held via Skype or phone conference. The board meets in person once per year or every other year (as the budget permits) in the most economical way. When travel is required, a stipend is available to partially cover travel expenses.
Individually, board members fulfill their assigned tasks. These range from distributing grant awards, updating the website and IYANW forms, creating electronic and print newsletters, tracking the budget, updating membership data, keeping current with IYNAUS, organizing and running the lending library, and various tasks related to ongoing support of our membership.
