Northwest Memberfest returns for its second year with a twist! This year, we are excited to spotlight one of the Northwest’s great teachers, Vimla Maharaj.
Join us for a full weekend with Vimla on September 16, 17, and 18. Each morning she will teach two-hour 8 a.m. PST/ 11 a.m. EST.
This workshop is FREE to IYANW members! There is a $10 fee for out-of-IYANW region attendees.
The workshop will focus on skillful action in asana leading to sukha (ease) and fun in asana. The intention is to remove darkness and radiate the light from within. This is the light that surrounds us, protects us and guides us in life. This illumination we all need in these times.
“I have studied with a rich tapestry of Iyengar teachers,” Vimla writes. “Now my main teachers are Gloria Goldberg and Gitte Bechsgaard learning more refinement and polishing to tap into the depths of yoga to connect to the sacred space we all share.”
Vimla began in the Iyengar Yoga tradition in 1993. She has studied with BKS Iyengar, Geetaji, Prashantji and Abhijata with several trips to Pune, India.
One of her greatest blessings was to teach her parents yoga at the age of 68, and seeing how they transformed from their life experiences through yoga.
Vimla was born in Trinidad and has lived most of her life in Canada and the United States. She is a retired dentist.
